Ghanaian Man Recounts Labouring At A Construction Firm In Canada, Says There Was No Room For Distractions, No Womanizing, No Partying, Because He Had Dreams And Purpose

Ghanaian man named Peter Bawuah has recounted how he worked so hard at a construction firm depriving himself of so many things while still attending his lectures as a student because he had dreams and purpose. Peter Bawuah warned aspiring youths about fake life on his post shared on Facebook.

In his words:

“When I first arrived in Canada 🇨🇦 as an international student, I came not just with a suitcase, but with vision and purpose. I didn’t have any family here. I was the first in my family to travel this far. There was no safety net. I had to walk wisely.

On Mondays and Tuesdays, I will go to class and fulfill my duties as a Teaching Assistant. From Wednesday to Saturday, I was out working, hustling, labouring at a construction firm. I took the job with honor and dignity. While others came and avoided work, I embraced it. Not because it was easy, but because it was necessary.

There was no room for distractions. No womanizing. No partying. No spending on things that didn’t matter. I wasn’t here to impress anyone. I was here to build something real and inspire my people back home. I stayed in my lane. I chose simplicity over show, wisdom over hype.

I had a dream. A dream of purpose and empowerment.

You see, fake life has an expiry date. If you say you’ve “made it” when you haven’t, life will expose your foundation. Wisdom teaches you to be honest with your season. To live within your means. To grow slowly, but surely.

Through this journey, I didn’t just work for myself. I helped many other international students find jobs and sustain themselves. Because when you walk in wisdom, you become a light for others.

Come with vision. Come with a plan. Avoid fake life. Be simple. Start small. Grow deep. Walk in wisdom.

Today, I look back at these old pictures, the worn boots, the tired eyes and I give thanks. Because that beginning laid the foundation for everything I have now.

The arrow of wisdom.”
