BP Moore Road Service Station With 50 Employees

SHE FINALLY MADE IT!!!

Meet – Dr Thandi Princess Ngxongo, award-winning Chemical Engineer, Businesswoman and Philanthropist.

She was raised on a farm in Mooi River, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and strive in excitement of growth and excellence.

She recently obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with research focus on women empowerment, topic being “women at the top – unleashing full potential of women in leadership in the petroleum retail” from the University of Kwazulu-Natal (UKZN).

She also obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Cum Laude from the University of Kwazulu-Natal and was invited to present her paper to the International Society for Engineers and Researchers (ISER).

Dr Ngxongo also holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Chemical Engineering and a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from Durban University of Technology (DUT) and a Diploma in Project Management from Varsity College.

She is the CEO and Managing Director of Thandekile Projects which include a BP Moore Road Service Station in Glenwood, Durban where she employs more than 50 people, and Thandi’s Kitchen which specialises in African cuisine on Bartle Rd in Umbilo, Durban.

She is also the Founder of Thandekile Foundation, which aims at spreading love through – rural child dream big initiatives, youth empowerment and mentorship programmes, women with drive initiative and women in STEM advocacy.

She previously served as HSEQ Business Partner Manager at Engen, HSEQ Advisor – TP Environment at Engen Petroleum, and Process Engineer at Engen Refinery.

“I grew up as a kid playing in worn and ragged cars which were filled up with petrol and oil smell. I quickly developed an instinct for cars and the oil industry. I yearned for success in the male-dominated business,” said Dr Thandi Princess Ngxongo.
