Colleagues Mourn Abuja Nurse Killed By ‘One Chance’ Criminals
In a heartbreaking incident that has sent shockwaves through the nursing community, Nurse Chinemerem Pascalina Chuwumeziem, a dedicated staff member at the VIP wing of the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Abuja, has tragically passed away.
The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, shortly after she concluded her afternoon duty and was on her way home.
Colleagues at FMC Abuja expressed deep grief over the loss, describing Nurse Chinemerem as a brilliant and compassionate professional. “With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our dear colleague, Nurse Chinemerem Pascalina Chuwumeziem,” said a fellow nurse who requested anonymity.
“She served humanity until her last day on earth but was cruelly taken from us by a group of heartless criminals. Rest in peace, our dedicated colleague. FMC Abuja nurses mourn her deeply.”
Sources revealed that Nurse Chinemerem fell victim to the notorious ‘one chance’ operators, criminal gangs known for targeting unsuspecting passengers for robbery and violent crimes. “She closed from her afternoon shift yesterday and never made it home,” a colleague tearfully recounted. “Her lifeless body was recovered by the roadside this morning and has been taken to the FMC Jabi mortuary.”
The nursing fraternity in Abuja and beyond has voiced concern over the rising dangers faced by healthcare workers commuting in the city.
Fellow Nurses Africa has urged authorities to take urgent steps to protect essential workers like Nurse Chinemerem, who devoted her life to patient care.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing. Our thoughts and prayers remain with her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
