Benedict Johnson Recounts Not Featuring In A Movie For 5 years Until He Attended NSPPD In Abuja, Says He Has Now Done 12 Movies This Year And Scheduled For Movies In Germany, America

Benedict Johnson has shared detail challenging period in his career, revealing that he went five years without landing any movie role.

Johnson spoke during a recent service at Streams of Joy International, with a video of his account now viral online.

According to the film star, no filmmaker contacted him for any production for five consecutive years.

He said the experience prompted him to relocate to Abuja in order to attend the church’s prayer programmes led by Jerry Eze.

Johnson said despite warnings from colleagues that Abuja was not a hub for film production, he made the move.

He said since the beginning of 2026, he has featured in 12 movies. He also disclosed that he has received acting jobs from producers in the United States and Germany.

“For five good years as a seasoned actor, I never had any job to do. Our industry is not like an employment where you can walk up to your director and say, ‘What’s happening?’ — why was I fired? This one, silently, nobody calls you for a job. For five years, I had no job to do. I kept believing in God,” he said.

“At the time, I decided to move down to Abuja because of NSPPD. I was following online, but I said to myself I would come to Abuja so I could see Pastor Jerry every Sunday — watch him, stay with him, stare in his face and ask God to bless me through him.

“Some of my colleagues said, ‘Benedict, Abuja is not a film place. If you go to Abuja, nobody will call you’. I said, ‘Don’t worry,’ and I came down here.

“Fast forward to now: this year alone, I have done twelve jobs already. We did 21 days of fasting and prayers this January, and I was right here praying.

“… God opened my way, and I started doing jobs. As I speak to you right now, by next week, I am going to Germany and America to make a movie. I intend to return all the glory to God.”
