Anthony Joshua Returns To Gym Training After Tragic Nigeria Crash, Describes The Session As “Mental Strength Therapy”

British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has returned to light gym training as he continues his recovery following a car crash in Nigeria on December 29, 2025, which claimed the lives of two close friends and members of his team.

The former world champion sustained minor injuries in the accident near Lagos, where the vehicle he was travelling in collided with a stationary truck.

Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and his trainer, Latif “Latz” Ayodele, both died in the crash.

Nineteen days after the incident, Joshua shared a short workout video on Snapchat, showing him doing light pad work and cycling. He described the session as “mental strength therapy” as part of his rehabilitation.

His promoter, Eddie Hearn, said Joshua’s boxing future remains uncertain, stressing that the fighter is focused on his physical and emotional recovery before taking any decisions.
