Anthony Joshua Knocks Out Jake Paul In The 6th Round

Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua secured a sixth-round knockout over YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in their highly publicized, Netflix-backed fight at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday. The bout reportedly saw the fighters split a massive $184 million purse.

Despite the size and experience gap Joshua, a two-time world champion, standing 6ft 6in, versus Paul at 6ft 1in the fight proved tougher than many expected. Paul repeatedly dropped to the canvas and grappled with Joshua’s legs, prompting referee Christopher Young to warn: “The fans did not pay to see this crap.”

Joshua, however, began asserting control in the later rounds. After knocking Paul down twice in the fifth, he delivered a decisive right to the chin in the sixth round, sending the 28-year-old American crashing to the canvas.

“It wasn’t the best performance, but the end goal was to get Jake Paul, pin him down and hurt him,” Joshua said after the fight. He also praised Paul for his resilience: “He got up time and time again. It takes a real man to do that.”

Paul, whose mouth was bloodied by the final blow, admitted he struggled with Joshua’s weight and power but remained optimistic about his boxing future: “I had a blast… I’m gonna come back and get a world championship.”

The fight, which came just over a year after Paul faced 58-year-old Mike Tyson in another Netflix spectacle, had drawn criticism for the mismatch in experience and risk of injury. Joshua landed 48 of 146 punches compared to Paul’s 16, highlighting the skill gap.

Looking ahead, Joshua hinted at a potential blockbuster clash with fellow Brit and former world champion Tyson Fury in 2026. “We shook off the cobwebs and I can’t wait to roll into 2026. Let’s put on some gloves and f+ght,” he said.
