22-Year-Old Student Set To Work With Tech Giant Microsoft As Programme Manager

  • Mohapi said it has always been his dream to work for the corporation and he has actively worked towards achieving this dream

Working hard and networking have yielded positive results for one Durban University of Technology student.

Gomolemo Mohapi has scored big as he now has the opportunity to joi’sn Microsoft team in Seattle, Washington. The 22-year old is currently completing his advanced diploma in IT at DUT.

Mohapi was recently hired as a programme manager for Microsoft. Speaking about getting this opportunity of a lifetime, Mohapi said he feels blessed as he never thought that his first job would be with such a huge company.

Mohapi said he started working remotely with Microsoft last week and is looking forward to later joining his team based at the Microsoft headquarters in Seattle, Washington as soon as lockdown flight restrictions are lifted.

Mohapi said:

“I am very happy to be working with Microsoft. It has always been a dream of mine but I didn’t think it will happen so soon. My family is very happy as they know how important this is to me.”

He revealed that his relationship with Microsoft started in 2016 after they offered him a chance to be a Microsoft Student Partner (MSP), which was a voluntary position.

Mohapi grabbed the opportunity with both hands and never looked back.
