Nigerian Man Says Visiting London Was A Childhood Dream, But He Never Believed He Would Become A British Citizen

Nigerian man named Idris Ayinda on x has shared a milestone as he became a British citizen. Idris grew up in Bariga and he relocated to UK in year 2019.

Sharing photos on x, he wrote:

“I became a British citizen last month, and just two weeks later, my “Blue” passport arrived 😊.

Visiting London has been a childhood dream, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d one day be called a citizen of the UK, a place I can now call home.

Growing up, my nickname was “Pappilo of London” (or “Papa” for short), so you could say I was always meant for this city.

It took me some time to put this into words as I am still processing it all, but I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity. This country has given me so much, and I have grown so much since arriving at Heathrow on 1st January, 2019.

For some, this might be an “ordinary” event, but for that boy from Bariga who defied the odds, this is a huge milestone I am proud of and choose to celebrate.”
