Seyi Shay Reveals Skin Issue She’s Been Battling Since Giving Birth
Nigerian musician Seyi Shay is opening up about one of her biggest insecurities—her skin. The award-winning singer, known for hit songs like “Murda,” “Crazy,” “Yolo Yolo,” and more, is sharing her deeply personal struggle with hormonal acne and pregnancy-related skin changes.
According to Seyi Shay, the issue began after giving birth to her daughter. The singer welcomed her first child in 2022, a moment she described as life-changing. While motherhood brought immense joy, it also came with unexpected challenges, including skin changes. Like many women, she experienced postpartum hormonal shifts that led to persistent acne and hyperpigmentation.
As a public figure, maintaining a polished appearance is often an unspoken expectation. Whether performing, attending events, or engaging with fans, she is constantly in the public eye. Now, she’s speaking about how she handles this insecurity and sharing tips that continue to help her. Here’s what Seyi Shay said.
Speaking about an insecurity which is the skin on her face that she’s been battling since giving birth, Seyi Shay opened up saying:
SEYI SHAY: Welcome to Sharing with Shay where I share things about my life you probably didn’t know. And today I’m gonna tell you about one of the biggest insecurities I have, which is the skin on my face.
I had a kid 3 years ago, and it left me with some disgraceful hormonal acne. In fact, I still have my pregnancy marks, and I couldn’t find anything to get rid of them.
Now, being in the limelight where I always have to be making appearances and things, it gives me such big insecurities because of how my skin looks.
And I would say that eating well, healthily, wholly, and using natural products has really been what has helped. It’s an ongoing process, but it’s getting so much better.
And my mantra is, if you wouldn’t put it in your body, don’t put it on your body.
