Ekiti Gov’s Wife Awards 50 Orphans Scholarships, Donates School Items

Wife of Ekiti Governor, Olayemi Oyebanji, has awarded 50 orphans with scholarships from primary school to university level, under the Widows and Orphans Hope Project.

The governor’s wife, who was represented by the WAOH Project Coordinator, Mrs Kemi Dairo, presented the scholarships to the beneficiaries at a brief ceremony in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.

She said that the gesture was part of her commitment to secure the future of children, especially those of orphans facing hardships.

Oyebanji said that as the second academic term commenced, the scholarship renewal was essential to ensure that the beneficiaries continued their educational journey without the burden of financial constraints.

“It is the belief that education is the greatest gift we can offer and that no child, regardless of their background, should be deprived of the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

“Scholarship is not just financial support it is a vote of confidence in your potential and a promise that we will continue to stand with you,” she added.

The governor’s wife encouraged the beneficiaries to work hard, stay focused, and aim for excellence in every endeavour.

Oyebanji also gave N25,000 to each of the beneficiaries, in addition to school bags, uniforms, socks, shoes, textbooks and notebooks for the new term.

Also, the wife of the governor advised the children’s guardians to always encourage them to prioritize their studies and avoid activities that could truncate their future.

She commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other stakeholders who have made the initiative possible and gave assurance that a brighter future would be built for the children.

The beneficiaries, who were selected from public schools across the state, thanked the wife of the governor for the opportunity and promised to make her proud in their studies.
