How I Was Duped: A Lesson From Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared a personal experience to caution Nigerians against making decisions that may lead them astray.

In a recent post, Adeboye revealed how his enthusiasm for the military led to him being duped, serving as a valuable lesson for his followers.

Adeboye recounted how a man, pretending to represent a paramilitary group, approached him with a proposal to become their spiritual leader. Despite his usual practice of seeking God’s guidance, Adeboye’s passion for the military clouded his judgment, leading him to agree to the role without proper discernment. The imposter requested funding, which Adeboye provided, only to discover later that the man was a fake.

Adeboye reflected, “My desire to be part of a paramilitary group made me run ahead of God, but God had already planned for Redemption City to have its own corps of chaplains and a local Police post.” He emphasized that trying to outrun God can lead to devastating consequences, including losing something precious.

Adeboye stressed the importance of trusting in God’s timing, citing Ecclesiastes 3:11, “God makes everything beautiful in His time.” He encouraged his followers not to pursue worldly vanities, which can rob them of greater blessings from God.

Instead, Adeboye advised, “Follow God’s timing; don’t try to outrun Him.” He reassured that God delights in our well-being and prosperity, as stated in Psalm 35:27 and 3 John 1:2, and will make us prosper in His own time.

This heartfelt message from Pastor Adeboye serves as a reminder to seek God’s guidance in all decisions and trust in His perfect timing
