What I Say To People Who Insist ‘Water And Garri’ Didn’t Teach Any Lesson – Jemima Osunde Speaks On Tiwa Savage’s Movie She Featured In
Jemima highlights some lessons from the movie
There has been a lot of talk since Tiwa Savage’s movie Water and Garri premiered on Prime Video last week Friday. The movie has been met with a lot of feedback, and most of the reviews have been scalding.
People have bashed the movie for having a less than stellar storyline, for being made more like a music video than a film, and a lot more. Another thing people have said is that the movie didn’t teach any lesson.
Actress Jemima Osunde who played the character of Stephany in the movie opened up about the lessons that the movie taught, and also speaks about her experience making the movie. Here’s what Jemima Osunde had to say about Water and Garri.
Speaking about her experience working on the movie, Jemima said:
JEMIMA OSUNDE: I think this has been one of the best combination of people I’ve ever worked with. And [Tiwa Savage] is someone that’s open to learning. So, even when we’re trying to see how we’ll play the scene, there’s always conversations we have before we get on set. So, when we get on set, we already know what we’re about to do. It was very natural. It was organic.
Speaking about the lessons that ‘Water and Garri’ taught, Jemima said:
JEMIMA OSUNDE: One of the core messages of ‘Water and Garri’ is the importance of family. Family doesn’t have to be blood. Yes, my character was her cousin, but it just shows the importance of having your own people. Everyone needs somebody. No one is supposed to be an island. No one is supposed to do life alone. Celebrities are regular human beings. The only difference between me and the next person is that my job puts me on TV in the face of a bunch of people.
We have moments when we’re not as glamorous, not as happy. We go through difficulties, and it’s very important to have our people that hold us down, and are able to give us all the love we need in those moments.
