Skitmaker Zicsaloma Makes Case For His Brothers Who Didn’t Support Him When He Started Content Creating

Nigerian skit maker and content creator Isaac Saloma popularly known as Zicsaloma is opening up about the sadly strained relationship between himself and his brothers, and revealing how they didn’t support him at all with his music or content creation dreams.

He also opened up about how and why he chose to go with a friend over his own siblings on a trip to South Africa. Here’s what Zicsaloma had to say.

Speaking about his strained relationship with his brothers and how they never believed in him, Zicsaloma said:

ZICSALOMA: I was the youngest, I’m only older than my sister but I have older brothers. When I started content creation, it was another battle. I remember that time, I was always raiding my mom’s closet. I would be creating content, my brother can just come and turn on music. I’ll say “but I’m recording na”, and he’ll say “wetin be that thing? Abeg carry this thing go!” So sometimes I have to wait in my costume for hours, or go and change. Or whenever nobody is around, I will create content.

So it was a thing like “what is this one doing?”. They never saw me coming. If there was prospect at that time, who will succeed? Obviously not me. But see it now. I’m like the chief cornerstone in the house.

Speaking about why he chose to carry his friend over his blood brothers to South Africa for a trip, Zicsaloma said:

ZICSALOMA: The Voice was in South Africa so you’re supposed to carry two family and friends. Naturally you’ll carry your sibling, but I cannot because none of them have ever supported me. I went with my friend cuz I could not [carry my brothers] because it would be very fake. These guys you’re telling me to carry, they no even know say I sabi sing. Do you understand? They can’t even identify if I can sing or not. So not because they want visa to a foreign country, I will now carry them, no.

I remember going for competitions and none of my brothers called me, nobody did. Typically, I never really got the family support but it didn’t deter me. I was still pushing my thing. I knew what I had inside me that the world needed to see and hear, so I kept going for it till here we are today.
