“That Boy From Ikorodu Who Thought There Was No Place For Him In The World”- Chess Master, Tunde Onakoya Reminisced After Hanging Out With Herbert Wigwe
Tunde Onakoya is a Nigerian chess master, coach and founder of Chess in Slums Africa.
He has organized a number of interventions for children across slums in Lagos state including Majidun (Ikorodu), Makoko and recently, Oshodi. The children are engaged in a 2 week’s session that seeks to unlock their potential through the game of chess while learning to read, write and acquire basic literacy skills.
He recently shared a photo on X where he was seen hanging out with Access bank MD Herbert Wigwe, and he remembered the days when he was in Ikorodu, never imagined he would come this far fulfilling his dreams.
He wrote:
“That boy from Ikorodu who thought there was no place for him in the world, little did he know that someday his dreams would take him places”.
