Google’s Former Boss In West Africa, Juliet Ehimuan, Becomes Director At Zenith Bank
Juliet Ehimuan, the former head of Google in West Africa, has become a non-executive director at Zenith Bank Plc, effective August 29, 2023.
Zenith Bank made the announcement on Tuesday through a statement by the company’s secretary, Michael Osilama Otu. The appointment of Juliet has received confirmation from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
With more than 25 years of experience primarily in the technology, oil and gas, and new media sectors across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Juliet is a prominent figure in Innovation, Transformation, and Leadership circles.
Over her 12-year tenure at Google, Ehimuan was pivotal in expanding the company’s influence in Nigeria and the broader West Africa region. She spearheaded initiatives to enhance digital access, local content development, skill acquisition, entrepreneurial growth, and innovation. Additionally, she fostered strategic partnerships with leading private sector and government institutions.
Ehimuan has significantly contributed to the tech ecosystem in Nigeria and Africa. Her involvement in committees shaping the national broadband plan and ICT incubation strategy in Nigeria and participation in national strategic advisory groups focused on economic growth underscores her dedication to shaping the tech landscape in Africa.
Her remarkable contributions to the digital landscape in Africa have earned her numerous awards.
She holds board positions across various industries, including finance, FMCG, oil and gas, education, and social enterprises. Her educational background includes a doctoral degree in business from Walden University in Minneapolis, an executive MBA from the London Business School, a postgraduate degree in computer science from the University of Cambridge, and a BSc in computer engineering from the Obafemi Awolowo University, lle-Ife.
Ehimuan is a recipient of the London Business School Global Women’s Scholarship. During her time at Cambridge University, she was honored as a Selwyn College Scholar and a Malaysian Commonwealth Scholar. She holds the distinction of being a fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society.
