Nigerian chess master, Tunde Onakoya has shared his experience on twitter after he
underwent a total hip replacement surgery to correct a childhood injury. Says the surgery was successful but the healing hasn’t been linear.

It’s been nearly a month since I underwent a total hip replacement surgery to correct a childhood injury. Although the surgery was successful, my healing hasn’t been linear.
After weeks of coping with persistent pain, I now feel ready to share my experience…
Tunde Onakoya is a Nigerian chess master, coach and founder of Chess in Slums Africa.
He has organized a number of interventions for children across slums in Lagos state including Majidun (Ikorodu), Makoko and recently, Oshodi. The children are engaged in a 2 week’s session that seeks to unlock their potential through the game of chess while learning to read, write and acquire basic literacy skills.
