Here is what Ebuka had to say about that fateful day.

Ebuka during interview

Ebuka was asked about his most embarrassing moment on television to which he responded:

EBUKA OBI-UCHENDU:

The very first time I did live television, I think I’ve told this story before, it was with Funmi Iyanda. She had this show she does every year, January 1st, and we had a guest on air that I was meant to interview. This was in 2012, 2013 January 1st, I can’t remember now. She had given me this gig, “okay I want you to come and host this show”, I had never done reality TV before. She gives me this person’s name and I do the research on her, and then I go on air and I ask my very first question. And she says “no, that wasn’t me”. I had researched somebody completely different from her. It was my first time, my first question, my first sentence on Live Tv and it was the wrong person I was talking to. Till today, it still haunts me.

Everybody goes through those moments but that day taught me. I kinda carried on with the interview but I think that has also helped me a lot more with freestyling. Which is why even with a show like Big Brother where some of you have sharp mouth and give me, I’m able to quickly have a response. Because that is what it does to you, it teaches you to think on your feet in the moment. So that one definitely, I remember it everytime. And I have not met her since then, I think she moved out of the country, she’s an author. I want to tell her “no vex” because it was supposed to be her moment and then I ruined it with my mistake. It was very bad.
