Celebrities Claiming They Wore A $100,000 Dress To The AMVCA It’s Unrealistic, And A Fat Lie- Zainab Balogun Speaks Her Mind

Nollywood actress Zainab Balogun is opening up about social media and why she didn’t feed into the controversy, scandal, and lying needed to trend and develop an audience as an influencer in today’s world.

She also opened up about why she sees a problem with saying such things as one saying they wore $100,000 dress to AMVCA (which Big Brother star Ifu Ennada did), and more.

Here is what Zainab Balogun had to say about the whole thing.

During her interview with Chude, Zainab Balogun was asked: “Do you think that in this era of the influencer, if you had given us more content – a little controversy here, little scandal there, talk about how your hair was done for $25,000 or something – that you would have opened up this influencer income that would have been more?

Do you think that’s something you could have done, and was it a deliberate choice not to?” She responded:

ZAINAB BALOGUN: It was most definitely a deliberate choice. For me, I am very conscious about the separation of power between the industry and myself. And that is because I need to take care of my mind more than anything else. And when you dabble in certain things without the consciousness of what the consequences are how that affects you mentally or emotionally, I think that’s quite problematic.

There are people who make these choices freely and they don’t have any issues. They are fine with saying they spent $100,000 on an outfit to the AMVCAs. I wouldn’t be because there isn’t a lot of truth in that. Because I have to be conscious of my audience and the people who I am sort of setting the pace for. It’s unrealistic. It’s a fat ass lie that nobody needs because guess what? The girl who comes after me and is in her early 20s and says “gosh I have an event. I need to figure out how I can spend $50,000” and doesn’t have a network of people giving her work. If she now says “I really really need to figure out how I can get this money. What are the other ways I can go out and get this money?” Ways that she probably shouldn’t have to consider if there are other viable options. So I could have made that decision but it is not my personality type and I am not consumed by social media.
