A man Helped by God!
2023 would be a milestone year for me and I’d like to share my little story to encourage someone out there.
Just after my Nysc service in Akure, i got an ICAN award in Nov 2019 for being the best qualifying candidate. My little mind believed this was it! The car, house and job🤣🤣(my dad had filled my head with such tales when i was little).
But Alas, nothing showed up. My uncle told me about PwC and even tried to refer me but it wasn’t time for the annual recuitment then. I remember waltzing into the 1st floor of landmark towers to submit my CV in my oversized jacket and overutilized shoes.
The view!😪😪 Everyone was just speaking so nicely and i began to look out of place. I found my way back home and this time, decided to plan my way back to this PwC. I also wanted to speak and look the brand!
Two wonderful firms and two years later, i resumed as an experienced associate in PwC in Aug 2021. My My! It was glorious for me. I was Home🤗. It felt like two steps down from my glorified senior role at my old firm but ‘omo’, anything just to be part of this Brand.
I got to love my work, my client and my team that i would rather ‘jump on a quick call’ than check out the latest happenings on Instagram.
Whilst in my pursuit, i found love😂 and that in a way added so much balance to my work. I found someone to always unwind with and be my ‘beautiful distraction’🥰. There were ups and downs and yhea, the breaking point, but we kept pushing!
Alas, July came and my small boy dream is now a reality! I got an opputunity to further develop my potential and work with the amazing team as an Assistant Manager 🐐.
Shout out to my inspiring boss Abiodun Kayode-Alli and the leadership at PwC Nigeria 🙌who showed me that PwC is truly a firm that prides in team development, care and value recognition.
Less than 2 years in and it still feels like Home❣️. XoXo, its great to dream, but its better to put in the work, and someday, with God on your side, you’d actualize it.
Not to leave out the fact that, no matter what, it gets much easier when you love what you do, and have a positive mindset about everything ( A “can do” attitude). Adding immense value to your team, and intentional job ownership are also great ingredients you may want to explore.
Wishing myself all the best in this next phase🤗
