“From My Experience, Graduating With First Class Is Useless” – Says Teacher Working Abroad
A University graduate claims that striving for a first-class degree is not necessary.
The man who is a teacher in Vietnam claimed in a video that he can’t remember the last time somebody asked him what class he graduated from the university.
Internet users who watched the video have also expressed their opinions on the subject he brought up.
A Young Ghanian Man who works as a teacher in Vietnam claimed that sometimes striving endlessly for first-class honors as a student is pointless.
Alumnus of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) @1achabu on TikTok said in a video that he got to that conclusion after traveling to Vietnam to work as a teacher.
He cited the fact that, in all of his job interviews, he had never once been asked what class he had graduated from college as evidence to support his claim.
This realization came as he described his feelings and actions following his failure to receive a first-class grade upon graduating from the university in 2010.
From his claim, the young man graduated with a Second Class Honors (Upper Division) with a 3.57 out of a total of 4.0 GPA. “I missed first class by 0.26 per cent, and I remember very well that when the gradualist list was released I lost appetite. I didn’t want to attend the graduation ceremony.
The man added the death of his close friend who had first class during their time in school also made him reflect on his actions. “Today I tell my friends that the purpose of my first degree has been served. It was to get me a job and also to help me get into graduate school.
Now I work as an international teacher, also I have one master’s degree, and I am studying for another. Today that first class that I was crying over is useless”
