After Graduating With A Distinction In MSc, Nigerian Man Explains Why He Once Rejected A School Cleaner Job In The UK, Says Invest In Yourself So You Can Get Out Of The Trenches
As shared by Dr. Dipo Awojide on Facebook.
When I relocated (or as we now say, #Japa) to the UK over a decade ago I came to the realisation that my own destiny was in my hands.
I realised that if I have high level skills I will get a high level job. And if I have low level skills I will end up in a low level job.
At one time I registered with Manpower in Harrow, London and they wanted me to go and be cleaning a school. I rejected that job immediately because I felt it was below me, especially after graduating with a Distinction in my MSc.
I had options and a backup. I understand others might do such jobs temporarily to sort bills.
The more skilled you are the more your earning potential increases. This is why you need to invest in yourself. Invest in yourself so you can get out of the trenches as quickly as possible. Get those skills. Take that certification. Take that course. Join that bootcamp!
