Lady Shares How She Met Her Husband Who’s In The Army On A Dating Site, They’re Now Married And Blessed With Two Kids

“I still remember the way he looked when we first met. I’d never seen an army man before that; I was impressed even with the way he walked. It all started in 2015 when Mohit and I matched on a dating site.

But knowing how things usually go on dating sites, I didn’t take him seriously at all. In fact, I didn’t even agree to go on a date with him. But a week later, something made me ask him, ‘I have some project work at Qutub Minar, see me there?’ And he actually showed up!

And once we met, we just hit it off. But being in the army, he soon left for his posting–a remote area with barely any network. Still, he’d make sure to call me every 2-3 days; he’d walk 3-4 kms to talk to me for a few minutes. That’s when it struck me that this wasn’t frivolous; he cared.

And we never even officially asked each other, we just knew we were together. We’d crave our time together– from making lists of movies to watch to restaurants to visit; we discussed everything. And whenever he’d come back, we’d have our bucket list ready.

Two years flew by, and when it felt right, we told our families. Since we are from different castes, they weren’t thrilled, but weren’t opposed to it either. So, in 2018, we had the wedding of our dreams!

And just a year later, we found out I was pregnant. When I saw the happiness on Mohit’s face, it felt just right. It was tough though– he was away for most of our pregnancy; his phone calls were the only thing that kept me going.

And then he came home right in time for the delivery. When we brought Tara home, Mohit was on father duty. All I did was feed her, while he did everything else. But 15 days later, he had to leave again– that’s the army family’s life, no goodbye is ever easy.

But things worsened at home. I knew my in-laws weren’t my biggest fans, but the fact that I’d given birth to a girl seemed to have been the last straw for them. And after several arguments that kept escalating, I had to move back into Maa’s house. For the next 9 months, Mohit kept telling me, ‘Mummy Papa aayengey milne!’ But they never did. Mohit was baffled at how ruthless they were being to their own grandchild!

When I was expecting again, we were living together in Assam. Maa asked me, ‘Won’t it be difficult to do everything alone?’ I said, ‘I just want him by my side this time.’ And even though his work schedule was hectic, I was his priority. We went through everything together this time, and even being able to have our meals together brought me the most happiness!

And when our son, Sky was born–we became our own little family.
Yes, being an army wife is tough, but Mohit and the effort he puts in make it all worth it.
And though we are parents to two toddlers, whenever we are around each other, we are still the same young lovers watching a movie in bed, munching on popcorn at 1 AM, and falling asleep in each other’s arms halfway through it.”
