One week you’re discussing being put up for a promotion and the next week, you’re being laid off…

Within 2 hours I went from giving my stand up update and trying to fix a bug with my coworker to having to read through a 50 page severance package.

Microsoft has been a part of my life for the past 4 years. Within that, I went from a curious Explorer intern to an ambitious SWE intern to a full fledge, Software Engineer. I’ll always be grateful for the opportunities working at Microsoft gave to me.

Technical-wise, my growth to the engineer I am today was truly fostered by the amazing managers, and mentors and coworkers, I had through the years. And on a personal note, interning at Microsoft accelerated my ability to purchase my first home. Which was inconceivable coming from a low income background.

While the layoff was sudden and unexpected, I’m still so grateful for the time I had at Microsoft.

Thanking her amazing colleagues, she’s excited for the next chapter in her career and officially open to work and ready to take on new opportunities.
