Anthony Dzamefe has shared a motivational post on LinkedIn, the CEO who designs wristwatches used his life as example to discuss financial independence.

My dad was more of a lavish spender. My mom was the type to spend a tiny little, eat something small and save the rest for later. Luckily I took after Her.

I made a plan when I was around 22 to make sure I was financially independent by 30. Since then, 90% of money I spent was on things that made money back. I sacrificed my social life and anything that would make me spend anything beyond my very modest daily needs.

I watched my friends go on fancy trips, go to flashy restaurants and called me names for always giving excuses and not joining them.

I had a plan. Eating lavish food? The time would come. And I am a patient guy. I chose to walk with people who had the same hunger as me. The hunger to prioritize investments and the chase for success over self comfort.

Today I can eat wherever I want to and the best part is, I still am not interested in luxury. Not yet. Maybe the time will come but now, my job is not done. When people tell me I have done great for myself, I remind them : doing something great for a short time is easy. Consistency and sustainability is what makes legends. My work is now about to start.

Have a plan, identify those on the same journey as you and may your focus never fade. With dedication and patience, success will be ours.
