Last week, I wrapped up my internship with the U.S. Department of Justice with the Office of the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division this week. It has been a privilege and an honor working alongside Kristen Clarke and all of the passionate advocates for change in the front office. I am so thankful to have learned so much from such talented attorneys.

I especially thank Mikael A. Rojas, my mentor throughout this experience, for giving me substantive work and feedback that improved my legal research and writing skills.

I’m so grateful for the once in a lifetime opportunities this internship afforded me. I went to SCOTUS for the very first time! I had a reserved seat and heard arguments in U.S., ex rel. Polansky v. Executive Health (21-1052) and Bartenwerfer v. Buckley (21-908).

Watching Justice Jackson in action was awesome! I also celebrated the Civil Rights Division’s 65th Anniversary at Main Justice. Hearing all of the speakers reflect on their time at the DOJ was incredible. Civil rights is truly the unfinished business of America, and while we’ve come so far we have so much further to go.

Thank you for allowing me to have had a hand in change this semester.
