How Kevin Hart Earned His First 450,000 Dollars As A Comedian At Age 23 When He Signed A Contract With ABC To Produce A Show Titled “The Big House”
Kevin Hart was a 20 years old upcoming comedian in Philadelphia. All he wanted to do was become a successful comedian. To do that, he had to travel to New York every day because all the big comedy clubs were in New York.
Philadelphia had few opportunities. He could have moved to New York, but he didn’t have a single buck. He didn’t even have a car. But every day, he convinced his friend, who was a fellow comedian, to go to New York for a gig. 5 hours journey in all. They did this for nearly three days every week. For nearly a year, he didn’t even get to perform. He was just going, following his mentor and learning things.
One day his friend told him he would no longer be going with him. Kevin did all he could to convince his friend, but the friend will have none of it. Although he had no car, Kevin devised a way to get to New York with the same schedule. Sometimes his mentor gave him a ride; other times, he took public transport. He was so focused on becoming a comedian that those around him began calling him “Mission Man”.
He behaved like a man on a mission. He had an objective. He had a goal. He had a dream. And nothing would dissuade him. Nothing!
At the age of 23, Kevin Hart signed a contract with ABC to produce a show titled “The Big House.” It was his big break. It paid him more than 450,000 dollars.
I think all of us need to become “Mission Man”. We need to become appropriately obsessed and determined to achieve our dreams. One day the big break will come, and you need to be onsite when it does.
