How social media changed my life for good. Don’t scroll past, please read and be inspired.
In March 2021, I first connected with James Deacon on Facebook when I was in desperate need of a graduate internship. Even though I was unsuccessful because I didn’t hear back from his company in Ghana after my visit, he introduced me to #LinkedIn.
In his account of his job search in Ghana, he praised the value of LinkedIn. For the first time, he assisted me in optimizing my LinkedIn account, which had lain dormant for years.
In April, I connected with my current employer, Vyend through LinkedIn. He offered me the chance to intern with his organization, after which he recommended for national service. He also paid me significantly more than the average National service personnel would. He provided me a lot of opportunities, which enabled me to network with many professionals in the maritime business.
I made another LinkedIn connection with NANA in the same month of April. We got along really well despite never having met at the time, and having similar interests. He called me a few weeks later to suggest a master’s scholarship in China. The deadline was still a few days away. I hastily tried it, and thanks to God’s goodness, I was fortunate to receive a full scholarship.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you might have seen my recent interest in okro farming, about which I frequently write on social media. I was posting my okro for sale on Facebook a few weeks ago when, as usual, a strange woman sent me a private message. It said, “I’m *, by the way. I hope you’re doing well. I recently read an article on your okro farm. I greatly respect the effort you put in as a young man trying to make it in Ghana. If you need anything, let me know.”.
We started talking, apparently she’s a Ghanaian living in the USA. I told her about how I was getting ready to go to China for my masters. She offered me a gift of $1,000 the same week to help with my travel plans. I was dumbfounded by the miracle. What could this be if not God and determination.
Because I had experienced the benefits of LinkedIn within a short period of time and had read the success stories of people like Emmanuel Nduka, it quickly became my home, and I made a conscious effort to grow my network.
Within a few months, I increased the followers of my account to over 10,000. Today, I’m thrilled to have over 17,000+ followers and to have finally arrived in China to finish my master’s program.
What message am I putting across; I want you to remember to keep trying. Increase your network by using social media positively. Remember that others are reading and monitoring whatever you post or write on social media, so be mindful.
My goal is not to dazzle you. It’s my goal to motivate you. Whatever you want to archive, you will. Prioritize God above all else. I hope someone today might be inspired by this.
