Tomorrow marks my one year anniversary with Microsoft. I wrote this one year ago today. Before I was the #recruitercousin, before I thought about being a recruiter, I was his frustrated wife who couldn’t find a job.
365 days after writing this, I still thank the man that handed my resume off which ultimately got me into recruiting. Thank you husband, Terrence Erkerd.
One year ago today, I wrote….
“When we first got married, I didn’t have a job. Actually, I lost both of my contract jobs within 5 days of each other 3 weeks before our wedding. I was scared but you always remained solid.
Everyday, I wondered when I would get a job.
And everyday, you told me it would come. I drove Lyft and did temp work until God opened the door for me. When I became a recruiter with Duke Health, you pushed me, challenged me, and pushed me some more. Another door opened, and you pushed me again….
As I move into this week, I am stepping into a place I never imagined. I used to say that I wanted to own Microsoft stock. I never imagined saying, “I am a Microsoft employee.” With your help, I can actually say I work for Microsoft, a company that receives more than 2 million applications per year.
Not only am I one in a million, I am one in two million. It’s because you helped me see and appreciate my worth. For lifting me up, carrying me when I need it, listening to me, and loving me the way God does… Baby, I can’t thank you enough. I love you 🤎.”
Tomorrow, I am celebrating one year with Microsoft. Prepare to be sicca me!
