5 years ago, I started a little business in my first year at Bristol University.
I kept on seeing students order takeaways to their halls, and knew I could serve them better.
Within weeks, people were going crazy for my pots of healthy Jerk Chicken, that I was selling under the name ‘Rice n Spice’.
I would cook in my hall’s kitchen & hand deliver every single meal. Some of my best friends to this day are people I first met through my deliveries.
In hindsight, the University of Bristol was the perfect place for me to start.
🧠 The alumni service connected me with an incredible mentor.
💰 The enterprise team awarded me £1000 in prize money.
🎓 The economics dept. supported me in deferring my degree.
🧡 The student community got behind me in an incredible way when I started to dream big.
Today, Simmer has evolved into a meal delivery start-up that feeds 1000s of people each week and generates millions in revenue 🚀
Whilst I’ve self-funded everything and poured blood, sweat & tears into building it over the last 5 years…
Like most successful business, there is also a degree of good fortune involved.
Turns out I started at the perfect time, in the perfect place, and I didn’t even know it.
