5 years ago, I started a little business in my first year at Bristol University.
I kept on seeing students order takeaways to their halls, and knew I could serve them better.
Within weeks, people were going crazy for my pots of healthy Jerk Chicken, that I was selling under the name ‘Rice n Spice’.
I would cook in my hall’s kitchen & hand deliver every single meal. Some of my best friends to this day are people I first met through my deliveries.
In hindsight, the University of Bristol was the perfect place for me to start.
The alumni service connected me with an incredible mentor.
The enterprise team awarded me £1000 in prize money.
The economics dept. supported me in deferring my degree.
The student community got behind me in an incredible way when I started to dream big.
Today, Simmer has evolved into a meal delivery start-up that feeds 1000s of people each week and generates millions in revenue
Whilst I’ve self-funded everything and poured blood, sweat & tears into building it over the last 5 years…
Like most successful business, there is also a degree of good fortune involved.
Turns out I started at the perfect time, in the perfect place, and I didn’t even know it.
