“It Was One Of The Hardest Decisions Of My Life, Her Dad Said, No”-
Serial Entrepreneur, CEO Gtexhomes Dr. Stephen Akintayo Shares Love Story As He
Marks 10 Years Wedding Anniversary
Today is exactly 10 years I got married to my wife.
It was one of the hardest decisions of my life. Her dad said, “No!” My own family said, “Since her dad said no, what’s the point going ahead?”
Her dad said, I was not responsible enough to take good care of his daughter, I didn’t have enough money nor from a big family. Though I was born into a poor family, a wealthy family has come out of my loins today.
I have worked hard to prove him wrong today. This is why I came up with that quote; “People don’t hate you, they hate your poverty.” Today, I am in the good books of my ‘father in-love’ 😊. Poverty is a disease that everyone should avoid.
10 years ago my business was young and barely successful. Our combination isn’t perfect, but our forgiveness was perfect. We were young and naive but our actions were mature, such that in 10 years, no one had ever settled issues for us.
We have negotiated our way into a peaceful home even though we are both different and flawed, but we have created our own paradise.
We didn’t have money, but I told her 13 years ago when I asked her to marry me that I will take her round the world and put her on Television. I am glad that I have kept to my word by the grace of God.
