In 2012, when I lost my mother, I promised that the Government of Ekiti State will build an Elderly Peoples’ Resort and Wellness Centre. In this, I soon discovered a coincidence of interest with the Council of Elders in the state.

That promise could not be fulfilled before my exit in 2014. As soon as I returned in 2018, I teamed up with the leadership of the Ekiti Elders’ Council and we sought their input in the design of the project.

Yesterday, I had the honour of commissioning the Elderly People’s Resort and Wellness Centre in Ekiti State. This is a testament to the commitment of our administration to prioritize the welfare of Ekiti-kete, particularly, our prides, the older citizens.

This resort is equipped with modern facilities to provide a befitting environment for the relaxation, healthy living, and mental alertness of our senior citizens.

We owe it a duty to love, respect, and cater for the well-being of the senior citizens and elders in our society.
