That Provides Moving And Relocation Services

Young Entrepreneur Ben Nnaemeka, has been nominated for many entrepreneurial awards while in school as a result of his passion and exploits in business.

He was also a finalist in the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme 2021. He’s the founder of Ridera, a logistics company that provides moving and relocation services. He speaks to Elorasblog in this interview.

Please tell us a little bit about your background?

My name is Ben Nnaemeka, the founder and chief operating officer of RIdera. I earned my bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, while in school as a student entrepreneur, I was nominated for many entrepreneurial awards as a result of my passion and exploits in business. Some of which are “Campus Entrepreneur of The Year” by the Anambra Youth Choice Awards, and also “Entrepreneur of The Year” by Anambra Campus Awards. I was also a finalist in the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme 2021.

While we were younger we had dreams and aspirations, would you say you ve fulfilled any?

Yes, absolutely! I studied engineering but I always had strong passion for business and solving real human problems. I’m on a journey, and I’m currently on the path to get there.

What motivated you to start up RIdera, how did you come up with this business idea?

I entered the logistics world to explore my passion for solving real human problems Few years back, I had some challenges with moving my property from my old apartment to the new one. So, in my quest to solve that problem, I asked and interviewed ten different businesses that recently moved and around twenty families who recently changed their home. They basically told me about the experience they had while moving from one location to another and the problems they faced. Nine out of ten businesses that moved in the last year shared with me the bad experience they had with moving services.

Besides being hard to find a company that offers moving and relocation services, they also had furniture and other stuff damaged during transportation for which the company did not hold any responsibility. Even the families that we interviewed who moved into their homes in the last couple years, faced similar problems as the businesses. They were complaining about how hard it is to find a company who moves their furniture, how unreliable they are, and the damages caused while transporting their items.

The majority of solutions in Lagos are the freelancers(road-side vans) who help people move whether their homes or businesses, but do not give any level of professionalism in moving.

Ridera Logistics provides relocation services, your company is doing quite a sensitive job, how can your clients build their trust in your services?

Ridera will be the solution to the above mentioned problems starting from how hard it is to find a professional moving company that helps people move items to safety and punctuality. An insurance will guarantee the customer that if anything is damaged, it will be covered according to our insurance policy.

Beside insurance, our team will also focus on punctuality of the service. If there are furniture that is hard to move as a whole, Ridera team will disassemble the furniture and reassemble it in the new location. So Ridera will offer an easier and simpler solution to the targeted customers who demand moving and relocation services in Lagos as never seen before and with professionalism.

In summary, we would offer excellent service to our customers. The main focus of our company will be the excellent service (Professional packers, packing and packaging, uninstallation, dissembling and assembling, etc.) and providing insurance for the stuff that is being transported. By providing excellent service and fulfilling our customers’ requests and desires we achieve customer satisfaction, and hence build trust.

Ridera services is quite innovative, and more professional, how do you intend to attract customers since many people are used to moving properties through road-side vans?

Advertising is the most important way to acquire customers in our company. We are going to use advertising campaigns to inform people about our company and the quality of services that are offered. We would also utilize social media and our website to promote our services.
Our Promotional intentions are to create special brochures which we will be spread around Lagos.

Also another way we would acquire customers is cooperation with real estate agencies. They will suggest our services to their customer who already bought or rented a new home.

Can you share with me the setbacks and challenges you’ve encountered in this business?

Some of the major challenges we face are cost of diesel which is on a high side now, cost of vehicle maintenance as a result of vehicle spare part hikes, also the ever growing traffic congestion in Lagos amongst others.

In Nigeria Innovative entrepreneurs hardly get support from the government, how does this affect you?

Honestly, I think that’s something that needs to be looked into critically by the government. A lot of young entrepreneurs struggling in their businesses to make ends meet. Personally, for me I decided to bootstrap for a timeframe, but now we are currently looking out and applying for seedfunds from potential investors.

What are the best remarks you’ve ever gotten from your customers?

Wow. So many! But this one, just after we had finished with her job. She called and was showering praises on ridera team. She narrated how she had been postponing the move because she didn’t know how to go about the move. It literally gave her sleepless nights, coupled with the fact that she possesed a lot of valuables and breakable items. But we came and saw the moving through in hours, safe and hassle-free. When I heard the news, I felt so fulfilled.

Where do you see Ridera in 5 years?

I see ridera changing the narratives of moving services in Nigera. we intend to grow and spread into other states, making moving safe and hassle-free. We are also building an app that connects businesses and individuals with moving needs to varied choices of the closest moving vehicles in real time.
