
Meet Ogutu Okudo, Kenyan Born Petroleum Engineer And CEO Of Guuru Energy
She holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Oil and Gas Enterprise Management from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Foreign Policy and Diplomacy from the United States International University (USIU).
She is an oil specialist, energy access expert, published researcher and strong critic of African energy sector dialogue having succesfully lobbied for policy reform on behalf of sector players and continues to raise awareness of challenges different genders are facing with their interaction with the oil, mining and alternative energy sources sectors.
In October 2021, she was appointed by Kenya’s President to the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation of Kenya.
She is an Advisory Board Member of the African Energy Chamber and a Non Executive Director of BBOXX.
Ogutu is a recipient of numerous awards through the work of the social enterprise she founded in 2012, Women in Energy and Extractives Africa (WEX Africa).
She was recognised by Forbes Africa, as part of their 2020, 30 Under 30 Class for her work in the energy sector.
“As a woman in a male-dominated industry, an African, and a young person, I use my unique perspective and expertise in energy sector to push an agenda of equality and empowerment,” said Ogutu Okudo.
