Man Who Just Became A Canadian Citizen, Says Canada Offered Him Quality Education & Made Him A Better Person

A young man named
Abdoulkadre Ado has shared his journey to becoming a Canadian citizen.

Read his testimony below as shared on LinkedIn:

Today, I said yes to Canada! Please, let me reintroduce myself.

I have lived/worked/visited 50 countries.

An African from Niger, I know my identity. I was never in a rush to become a citizen of any other country despite being eligible years ago. One can deserve a citizenship but for me the question has always been “Does a country deserve me to take its citizenship?”. For Canada, today my answer became YES.

I came to Canada in 2010 as student, on my own, because I wanted to have 4 degrees from 4 different countries, especially knowing how great the Canadian education system is!

My family was shocked when I decided to come to Canada instead of staying in China where I just had the top Chinese full doctoral scholarship.

In 2012, I received Canada’s most prestigious doctoral distinction (Vanier Scholarship), it radically changed my life! I received my PhD in Canada in 2015. Canada offered me quality education and made me a better person.

I taught at 4 Canadian universities since 2011. More than 4 000 of my students have graduated, and this gives me great joy, seeing them succeed worldwide.

I am definitely grateful to God and to my parents who never played with our education and instilled in me a sense of perseverance. I am also grateful to Africa (especially Niger & Morocco) which gave me a strong early education and to China where I did my masters with full merit scholarship.

I am also thankful to many countries and institutions that shaped my training, including the United States where I did my doctoral internship and the United Nations where I had my first experience in international development, multilateral cooperation, and global diplomacy. I am also grateful to all of you, friends, colleagues, students, and followers.

Until today, I had only my African passport and always asked for visas where needed! And yes, I have always gotten visas for all countries I applied for, even those hardest to get although I am not that rich. Lol

So today I accept the Canadian Citizenship & Passport to say: Thank you Canada, we now deserve each other, [smiles].

Proud African & Proud Canadian as well

Congratulations to him.
