Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria, has revealed his relationship with Queen Elizabeth II of England.
The Queen, who was laid to rest on Monday, September 19, reigned for 7 decades, becoming the longest reigning monarch in the history of the United Kingdom.
Obasanjo said he was just about to leave the secondary school when the Queen first visited Nigeria and that he was very happy to have hosted her as president in Abuja in 2003.
Former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has disclosed his tremendous respect for the late Queen Elizabeth II. Obasanjo, in a statement sent to Legit.ng, said the late Queen was a personality with great human relations, whom he enjoyed a perfect relationship with.
The statement revealed that the ex-president disclosed his relationship with the 96-year-old Queen during an interview with the News Central Africa TV at his Penthouse, Olusegun Obasanjo presidential library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

The ex-president eulogised the late head of the commonwealth of nations, stating that he was about to leave secondary school when the 7-decade-reigned monarch first visited Nigeria.
The statement, which was signed by Obasanjo’s special assistant, Kehinde Akinyemi, revealed the former head of state’s happiness to have hosted the Queen as Nigerian president in Abuja in 2003, “and I can say that she was wonderful. “My relationship with the Queen was perfect, she was a great, great woman, who had shown great example in human relationships. She carried herself so graciously, so dignified. She was somebody I have tremendous respect for.
“I join the rest of the world to mourn with her family, the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth (because she was the Head of Commonwealth), and the rest of the world. I also mourn with Prince Charles, who promised to continue from where she had stopped. My her soul rest in peace,” Obasanjo was quoted as having said.
