Meet 24-Year-Old Kenya’s Youngest Elected Member Of Parliament And Countrywoman Representative At The Parliament Of Kenya

Meet – Linet Chepkorir, Kenya’s youngest elected Member of Parliament and Countrywoman Representative at the Parliament of Kenya.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Chuka University. She has played leadership roles at Kapsimibiri Primary and Siwot Secondary schools and served as female captain at Tharaka University College, a constituent of Chuka University.

On 9 August 2022, at age 24, Toto as she is popularly known garnered 242,775 votes in Bomet County with 376,985 registered voters defeating eight candidates who were way older than her.

According to the young politician, her first item on the agenda will be to support a Bill in Parliament that would require the government to give girls all around the nation free sanitary pads.

“As a youth, I understand the problems my age mates face. Majority have no source of income and have not been employed even after going through university and middle-level college education. It is an issue I will address with the national and county governments. I will also rope in the private sector to provide solutions,” said Hon. Linet Chepkorir.
