Man Shares How He Allowed His Wife To Bag Her PHD Despite The Distance, Moved With Her To The US After She Landed A Job
“I first met Nidhi in 2008 during a college fest, I found her very attractive so I asked a friend to introduce us.
We connected instantly and began dating. But when I had to move to the UK for my internship, we broke up. Life moved on & so did I.
After my internship, I moved to Thailand for work. 7 years passed and one day, I came across Nidhi’s profile on Facebook. I was surprised to see her after so many years, those 3 months flashed in front of my eyes. After a lot of contemplation, I sent her a request & we began chatting, that’s when she said, ‘I’m coming to Thailand in 2 days, let’s meet!’ I was thrilled!
And when we met, nothing had changed. Sparks flew again and before we knew it, we were dating! This time, I wasn’t letting her go.
And so, a few months later, on a trip to Paris, I asked her to be my wife! She wasn’t sure since she was preparing for her PHD.
But I said, ‘Tujhe koi bhi mil jayega, mujhe tujhse better nahi milegi.’ She laughed and said yes!
We got married in 2016 and she left for her PHD while I went back to Thailand for work.
For the next 4 years, we barely saw each other, still we made it work. Finally, she graduated in 2020, with flying colors, I was proud!
But again, all the job offers she was getting required her to relocate.
One day, she casually mentioned, ‘I got an offer from the US for a project with NASA. But I rejected it.’ I was shocked! I said ‘You MUST go!’
But she was apprehensive; she didn’t want to do long-distance again.
I didn’t either, but I knew what this opportunity meant. So, I told her, ‘Tu ja, main aata hun.’
Nidhi left in April & I followed her 2 months later. Those 2 months were tough – I struggled for 45 days to get my visa.
But when we met at the airport, we couldn’t hold back our tears, she literally jumped into my arms and we cried together. It was such a sweet moment.
But I’m finally here and I’m a proud house husband.
I cook, clean and look after our house while my wife is out there, killing it! There are many who look down upon me – ‘Biwi ke paise pe jee raha hai.’ But I don’t care. She is my wife! And isn’t this what love is? Being the wind underneath each other’s wings?”
