Man Who Had Everything Going On Well For Him Suddenly Looses Son In An Accident

“Up until last year, I had a fairly normal life – a good job, a wonderful wife and two beautiful children–a daughter and a son. I never fathomed that someday I’ll be sitting on my son’s death bed. But it happened and altered all our lives forever.

Meet was a very sweet kid; he couldn’t bear to see anyone in pain. And given his kind heart, he made lots of friends. But one friend who always stayed constant was Krish.

They met on the first day of school and ever since, the two of them remained inseparable.
They both were excellent students throughout their schooling and never gave us a reason to worry. In the 12th grade they decided that they wanted to pursue a career in IT which meant they would spend most of their time preparing for boards.

So when Meet approached me and asked if he could go out with Krish and some other friends for Krish’s birthday party, I agreed readily. ‘Take care, Beta,’ I said to him as he was leaving the house. To which he replied, ‘Don’t worry Papa, I’ll be back soon’.

But instead of his arrival, I woke up to a call that night – ‘Please come to the hospital. Your son and his friend have been in an accident’.

My heart beat frantically, but I gathered myself and rushed to the hospital. There, I found out that Meet’s two-wheeler had been rammed into by a speeding car leaving both the kids badly injured.

Both Meet and Krish put up a brave fight but three days after their accident, they were declared brain-dead. I felt helpless and inconsolable.

I cursed the gods and my fate. But when I looked at my wife and daughter, I wiped my tears and gave them a shoulder to cry on.

That’s when Nileshbhai from Donate Life broached the subject of organ donation.

Naturally, I was taken aback. The grief was too much. But at the same time, I was reminded of a conversation I had had with Meet a few days ago. He’d shown me an organ donation video and I’d said, ‘Jab mera time aayega, mere bhi organs donate kardena.’ I broke down remembering the conversation.

It was as if Meet came to me and told me what he wanted. So I spoke to Krish’s father, and together, we decided to do this. For the first time, 13 different organs were extracted from a single hospital in Gujarat saving 12 lives!

It’s been a year since and although the pain is still raw, I am content knowing that Meet could be a part of the greater good.

Today, his heart beats strongly inside the chest of a CRPF officer, and his lungs give life to a 21 year-old.

Even in their deaths, Meet and Krish were heroes!”
