Tiffany Hainesworth, Is The Founder Of TCapri Tequila, She Has Made History As The First Black Woman To Solely Own A Tequila Brand

Tiffany Hainesworth, the founder and owner of TCapri Tequila, has made history as the first Black woman to solely own a tequila brand.

Hainesworth, who is based in Maryland and worked for the federal government for almost 30 years, decided to become an entrepreneur after a car accident. She said, at that time, she wanted to do “something different, something fun.”
She started out making gummy bears made from liquor brands, as well as wine and other gourmet treats. Eventually, she made her lifetime dream of owning a tequila brand come to life.

In 2018, she started researching the process of making tequila and eventually found a distillery in Guadalajara, Mexico. Despite the government warnings to avoid the city due to high crime rates, Hainesworth pushed through the business and even worked together with local Mexican farmers in harvesting crops needed to produce tequila.

“It was important to me to pay homage to a product that I was producing,” she told NBC News. “I didn’t want to just slap my name on a bottle and say I have a liquor brand.”

Since then, Hainesworth has become a successful entrepreneur. Her tequila brand is being sold in various stores throughout the state of Maryland, and she is hoping to make it an international brand one day.

“It makes me feel like anything is possible for women, anything is possible for minorities,” Hainesworth said. “You just have to focus, put your mind to it and stay at it.”
