I am Adekalu Michael,
I hail from Osun state but was brought up in Mushin Lagos where i had my primary and secondary education.
I studied production & design at Obafemi Awolowo University. I am born into a family of 5 being the first son.

Why did you choose the name Decalux Engineering, what motivated you to start up the company?

Well, the name “Decalux” was given to me by colleagues during secondary school. Though spelt differently.

The drive to start the company was as a result of the gap in the building and industrial services in the country. It started with training young graduates who wanted to venture into the industry pre-job experiences related to HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Piping, Fire Fighting etc.
After proven track records in human capacity training related to MEP, we started venturing into consulting and subsequently contracting. Today, Decalux is both a consulting and contracting engineering company.

What are the services provided by Decalux Engineering?

We provide our clients with Front End Engineering Design relating to heating, ventilation Air-conditioning & Refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, process piping and energy services.

How did you come up with this business ideas?

I started in the industry as an HVAC design engineer. Thereafter, I took up more roles which include but not limited to other services related to mechanical such as plumbing, fire and piping. While coming up with the idea, it would be good to spread our wings to include turnkey energy, and MEP services.

Did you attend
any form of training?

Yes. First was on the job, then some formal training both within and outside the country. More importantly is the global exposure and ability to deliver irrespective of the hurdles.

What are the major challenges you’ve encountered and also setback you’ve faced doing this business?

They abound so much as it’s part of engineering to solve a problem. Internally, the challenges are building a reputable team which can synergize and proffer best solutions to clients. Externally, the challenges could be working with other contractors or sub-contractors. Though some of these are part of our daily challenges especially if you are handling consulting and contracting. However, we have coined our way of solving them.

What are the best customers feedback, are they impressed with your services?

Customers’ feedbacks: It has been great. We have some of them on our Google reviews. Clients satisfaction is a top priority in our organization.

In Nigeria Entrepreneurs hardly get support from the government, what can you say about this?

Support from government: Well, our industry is not such a one that totally relies on the government though it(government) plays a big role on how successful a firm could be in year’s to come. In all, we are here and we believe we can be better.

Where do you see Decalux Engineering in 5 years?

5 years goal:- Decalux Engineering will be a global firm to be reckoned with in terms of energy and MEP services.
