Meet the South African entrepreneur who is turning trash into profit

South African entrepreneur Gift Lubele is the Co-Founder & COO of Kudoti , a digital platform specialized in waste management.

Kudoti (means “trash” in Zulu) is now striving to be a leader in the South African recycling market thanks to its digital waste management solution, which in practice creates a “waste market”, subject to the laws of supply and demand.

Kudoti is a technology and logistics company providing an end-to-end data enabled logistics platform to connect waste collection centers with recyclers.

The start-up enables recyclers to track their waste and support better decision making through the use of real time data to embrace the circular economy.

The waste management market in South Africa is valued at R24.3 billion ($1.62 billion) annually. Kudoti has calculated that its current addressable market is only 250 million rand ($16.6 million), a tiny fraction of the industry’s achievable economic potential.
