23-Year-Old PhD Holder Is The Youngest In Africa After Obtaining A Doctor Of Philosophy (PhD) In Industrial Psychology From North-West University, South Africa

Meet – Dr Musawenkosi Donia Saurombe, Africa’s youngest female PhD holder.

In 2017, at age 23, she became the youngest female PhD graduate in Africa after obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Industrial Psychology from the North-West University, South Africa.

She was born in Zimbabwe, raised in Botswana and currently resides in South Africa.

She started her undergraduate studies with a BCom in Human Resources Management at the age of 16 which she completed at 19. Leading to her postgraduate studies, she obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom Honours) in Human Resources Management and a Master of Commerce (MCom) in Human Resources Management with distinctions at the age of 20 and 21 respectively.

Her PhD thesis passed without corrections and focused on The Management perspectives on a talent value proposition for academic staff in a South African Higher Education Institution.

Dr Musawenkosi Saurombe is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Johannesburg, Charlotte Mannya-Maxeke Institute Ambassador and South African BRICS Youth Associate.

She is also a member of various global organizations and a well accomplished Researcher with numerous publications to her name, which has been presented to a number of international conferences.

“As young people, it is very important to accrue the right character traits, don’t let anyone tell you are substandard, under par or unworthy of having a dream, so be daring, be bold and be aggressive in your pursuit of success,” said Dr Musawenkosi Donia Saurombe.
