A lady named Dorcas Basia has shared a throwback of photo while reminincing on how she relocated abroad at the age of 6.
Dorcas narrated how she was determined to be the first graduate within her family’s generation and despite few challenges she encountered, she achieved a first-class degree in BA Business Economics.
Sharing her testimony on LinkedIn, she wrote:
I wanted my first ever post to showcase my biggest achievement thus far. Migrating to this country at the age of six and teaching myself English; graduating from University was a mere dream.
However, I was determined to be the first graduate within my family’s generation.
To say it was difficult would be an understatement. Throughout the three years at the University of Essex, I was undoubtedly faced with numerous challenges. The biggest obstacle being the pandemic! However through the support of my friends and family, I was able to achieve a first-class degree in BA Business Economics.
To conclude, I would like to give an honourable mention to my dissertation mentor Ceren Baysan . During an individual’s academic journey, there are always teachers or mentors you remember for a lifetime. Thank you for being such a great support system and changing my whole outlook on life, I will forever be grateful.
As this chapter closes , I am certain that this is only the beginning of my journey and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
