Man Who Was Told That He May Not See At Birth, Set To Become An Attorney
A man named Justin Edwards who just gained admission to Harvard Law School is set to fulfil his childhood dreams of becoming an attorney. Though the doctors told his parents at birth that he may not see, but he later went on to have a successful eye surgery.
Justin who’s awe of how far he has come in life shared his story with friends on LinkedIn.
Read his post below;
When I was born, my parents were told I would never be able to see. After their relentless advocacy and two eye surgeries, God blessed me with the sight that numerous doctors said would never be. While my eyesight has presented many obstacles over the years, what has followed has been nothing short of a miracle at work.
I have always believed that what I lack in sight, I more than make up for in vision, and I envision a world where no one is limited by their circumstances or challenges. Understanding the important role that law plays in many facets of our world, I have aspired to become an attorney since I was a little boy to help create and expand opportunities for others the way my parents did for me all those years ago.
Today, I am ecstatic and humbled to share that I am one step closer to helping build that world I envision. This fall, I will be entering Harvard Law School as a member of the Class of 2025!
There are more people to thank than there are minutes in the day, but there are a few I want to thank by name starting with my parents, Michael and Kimberly, who never told me I couldn’t do something because of my eyesight, only “ok son, let’s find a way.” My brother, Christian, and sister, Celeste Edwards, who have helped me laugh through the ups and downs along this journey. All of my family and friends, whose endless prayers have kept me lifted through it all.
My mentors, especially Marcus Ware, who has generously invested and poured into me since my freshmen year at Howard University. And most of all, my wife, Ashley Edwards, who has believed in this dream with me despite all odds.
God, thank you, thank you, thank you. I pray that You use me every step of the way.
