Meet Oluwatosin Adebisi, an hardworking lady, a humanitarian, who has a heart of gold and she’s so passionate about the well being of kids, she runs a foundation that gives quality education to kids and also donates free educational materials to them. She speaks to Elorasblog in this interview.
Please tell us a little bit about your background?
I am Oluwatosin Adebisi, the Founder of Smiley Educational Support Foundation, an NGO that runs with the mandate of SDG4(Quality Education). I hail from Modakeke, Osun State Nigeria. After my primary and secondary education in Modakeke, I had my tertiary Education at Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Ogun State where I studied Agricultural Extension and Rural Development and graduated in year 2019. Thereafter, I was posted to Rivers state for my NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) where I carried out diverse projects that had positive impacts on the host community and its environs. It was during my NYSC that I caught the vision for Operation Write Well, one of the core programs of the NGO I run today. Out of my passion of reaching out to humanity, the Foundation was birthed and my primary desire is to see every child smile via the Foundation.
What motivated you to start up Smiley Educational Support Foundation?
My love for humanity, most especially children motivated me to start up Smiley Educational Support Foundation.
I love smiling, and so I have a Yoruba name ‘Eriniyin’ which means Laughter of Praise. I thought of a name that revolves around Smile, and Smiley came to mind.
You help children gain access to quality education, is it free, do you pay their sch fees?
Yes, we help children gain access to quality education. We teach them how to write legibly, and donate educational materials to them. For now we don’t pay their school fees yet, but we have the plans to do that in future times as we access more funds.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get my inspiration from the children I reach out to. Seeing the children smile gives me abundant joy and fulfillment.
What are the major challenges you’ve encountered and also setback you’ve faced running this foundation?
The major challenge I have faced so far is the inability to meet some students/pupils needs due to our financial ability, reason being that we wouldn’t want to bite off than we can chew.
We trust God to help us grow faster so that we’ll be able to meet all the educational need of every child we meet.
The setback that I have faced running this foundation so far is the inability of schools to maintain the achieved results having handed the pupils/students over to them after the Operation Write Well training.
I commend your efforts making impact in this generation through your foundation, have you received any awards or support from the government?
I have not received any award/support from Government yet, but I have received supports from individuals and some organizations.
What doors can you literally say Smiley Educational Support Foundation has opened to you?
Smiley Educational Support Foundation has made me to become a number one person that you’ll think of when you wish to solve the challenge of illegible handwriting amongst students/pupils, and which has made individuals, schools, and organizations that I never thought of to reckon with me.
Where do you see Smiley Educational Support Foundation in 5 years?
I see Smiley Educational Support Foundation in higher ground, putting smiles on the faces of innumerable children across Africa.
