Read her post below;
After coming to the US in 2015, my life was full of rejections. I like to call it a ‘roller coaster’.
In 2014, I received my high school diploma. I was 14.
In 2015, I came to the US with 2 luggages and 1 dream: make my parents proud.
From 2015-2019 I faced all types of rejections
In 2020, I got rejected from two of my dream companies: Microsoft and Apple.
In 2021, I finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel when Google said YES 😭
As a first-gen latina, seeing all my dreams being crushed by rejections was devastating.
It was hard for me to face my parents and tell them I couldn’t get into any of the colleges I applied to. I had to wait 1 year to finally be a college student.
It was difficult enough to not know English, be in a foreign country where you barely know anything and then getting rejections left and right, it made it all worst.
My life was really a roller coaster.
Leaving my country, my friends, and my family behind to pursue new opportunities was not an easy task. That’s why I have so much respect for people who come to this country with the goal of finding a company who gives them a chance.
If you recently faced a rejection or were laid off, just know that life can be a roller coaster. That ‘no’ now is not going to be permanent.
There’s a badge with your name on it at your dream company waiting for you. Believe it.
