Lady Celebrates Milestone As She Gets Inducted Into The Nursing Profession

Proud lady named Omotayo Adetunji is celebrating her new status at the moment as she just got inducted into the nursing profession.

Omotayo also took time to outline all her achievement during the course of her undergraduate studies.

Sharing her testimony on LinkedIn in a lengthy post, she wrote:

Exactly one week ago, 9th of February, 2022, I got inducted into the Nursing Profession. In recent times, I have learnt to count my blessings and celebrate milestones. I am grateful to God for the strength to pull through my undergraduate studies, I am grateful to my man of God for consistently speaking words over me, I am grateful for my parents, mentors and friends that held my hands up in victory.

During the course of my undergraduate studies, I leveraged the spheres of volunteerism, social entrepreneurship, research and advocacy to drive impacts within my local community.

As a 300 level student, I had the opportunity to attend the 72nd World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland as a delegate of the ICN-International Council of Nurses, all thanks to the Nursing Now Campaign for this incredible opportunity.

I also had the opportunity to participate in fellowship programs targeted at personal and professional growth like the Young African Leadership Initiative Leaders Initiative, the Clinton Global Initiative University, among others.

In 2020, myself and three of my colleagues back in school committed to building a large network of climate literate Nigerian nurses who will act as change agents by raising awareness about the effects of climate change on human health, we found expressions through the initiative that was birthed from this idea- The GalesActGreen Initiative. So far, we have been published in articles and international newspapers.

In 2021, we were declared challenge winners of the Nursing Now Challenge Global Solutions Initiative, accompanied by a grant prize by the World Innovation Summit for Health to enhance the work that we do.

My final year research article on the Influence of COVID-19 on Provision of Skilled Antenatal and Delivery Care Among Nurses and Midwives in Selected Healthcare Facilities in Ibadan was accepted for an oral presentation at the Population and Reproductive Health Dynamics under Covid-19 in Sub-Sahara Africa, organized by the NRF Covid-19 and the Sexual and Reproductive Health Research Network and my work is in the process of being published in a high impact journal.

I also became a member of the Challengers Committee for Nursing Now Challenge.

I am grateful for the graces I enjoyed as an undergraduate student. I am grateful for the growth and clarity of purpose the journey afforded me and I do not take any of these blessings for granted. I am grateful for great leaders that inspired me in this journey like ma’am Tlou Sheila, thank you so much for consistently projecting the right pictures. I am also grateful for the LinkedIn community for different stories of possibilities.

Reintroducing Omotayo Adetunji RN, RM, B.N.Sc UI (Second Class Honors- Upper Division). I know it can only get better from here and I look forward to greater feats and accomplishments.

I am open to working and learning opportunities in public health, research and project management.
