Man Who Had No One To Finance His Education, Celebrates Graduating From Nexford University 3 Years Ago
A man named Ifeany Akaleme has shared a short story on the challenges he encountered with his education as a young boy.
He worked as an houseboy and receptionist, at age 17, he had an excellent result but could not proceed to the university due to lack of finance and sponsors.
Today he celebrated graduating from Nexford University 3 years ago.
Sharing his story on LinkedIn, he wrote:
I Was Only 17 When I Started My Career 15yrs Ago here😇
I was 17 years old, my salary was 7,000 naira.
I worked as the first receptionist in a specialist cardiologist hospital immediately after Secondary School.
This was 2007 in Umuahia, Abia.
I couldn’t proceed to University immediately even with an excellent result because my politician master swore never to sponsor my education.
I could remember when my admission at the Federal University of Technology Owerri was released, he called a meeting that same night to inform the house – “I didn’t sign a letter to train Ifeanyi in school.”
The future was bleak. A fiercely determined young man was scared, oppressed, and defeated.
Going to school was my only hope to defeat poverty.
It was then I miraculously got a job at restoration clinic Umuahia.
I was working as a house boy and a receptionist.
I stayed awake most nights to do house chores so I could resume early.
Plates were washed by 11pm, cars by 4am.
I told myself I had paid the price for my greatness
Today, be inspired by my story.
Today, God will miraculously make a way for you
I can celebrate Nexford University boldly at her 3rd anniversary.
I am blessed to be an alumnus.
P.S: Picture was taken in 2017 after 10yrs.
