A man named Michael Olumide Fakorede has taken time to narrate the challenges he encountered while studying at a Polytechnic.
Michael struggled financially, at some point he sold garri but he was determined to never give up.
While his mates was ahead of him, he didn’t get distracted. He later bagged his first degree at age 27, and finished his National Youth Service Corps at age 28.
Michael concluded with a motivational post, saying: “You don’t have control over age, don’t accept the age factor of Success”.
Sharing a lengthy post of his story on LinkedIn, he wrote;
Don’t look down on us -Because we went to #polytechnic. Some of us went through those process not because we have dull brain or our parents are poor.
This is a true-life story of what happened to me.
From 2010-2012 by divine arrangement, I bagged a National Diploma from GatewayPolytechnicIgbesa, known as #ogunstateinstituteoftechnologyIgbesa now and I never regretted it.
2013, My Parents instructed me to further my education through Direct Entry at Joseph Ayo Babalola University fast forward when am about to start my program at JABU I lost my parents. Funny though
I grew so much in pains and emotional trauma; I was out of school for 2years because I couldn’t concentrate on details. Thank God for my siblings.
In 2015, Had gained Victory over my emotions and I want to pursue my academic goal, so I picked the #HND FORM, then my colleagues in school back then were at the edge of going for their #NYSC.
Through 2015, I wanted to be #financially stable so I started a Computer Training School, but after a few months that business failed because it needs my presents every time, so picked up another #business which is “Garri Business” because I understood a scripture that says ‘Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all you might, However, every week I used to travel to #oyostate to buy Garri in bags and transported it to Ogun and Lagos environs while still running my HND as a #full-time #student. Most times, I do the journey back to Ogun and Lagos state around 1:00AM/2:00AM with dangerous risks WOW- I’m exempted from those risks, robbery, accident, etc because Iet no one causes me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus;
My academic journey is #transformation
My career journey is #transfiguration
Let me summarize the #lessons I learned from the story mine is that,
• There is nothing like #free success – you must work for it – to attract God’s favor.
• When God is blessing my friends; with Marriage, Car, House- I never envy them for once because I knew the LAW OF #TIME.
• You don’t have control over #age, don’t accept the age factor of Success that you ‘MUST’, I bagged my first degree at 27years, finish my National Youth Service Corps 28years, I should have given up because my plan was to finish my degree at 25years and to work for the next 5years to achieved my 30years goals and but with God and hardwork I was able to accomplish my 30years goals within 2years space in Nigeria 🇳🇬.
• At every level of my life, I understood that #God brought me to that level to learn, prepare, and improve. Keep working “God bless hardworking people not beautiful or handsome people.
• The idea of Who you are will keep you from the competition. Know your #purpose and know #PEACE.
• Finally, when you don’t have money, Keep #learning productive #skills and #improving yourself, one day the #king will call for you.
