Exactly 12:35 am, January 2nd, 2021. I completed my second book titled “5 years: 10 things life taught me”

Many people know that I always share my end of the year reflections and what life has taught me in the year. Towards the ending of 2019, I got inspiration in the bathroom to write about my journey in 5 years (2015 – 2020) and what changed between then and now.

I shared some deep lessons. One of the things I shared was passion is not enough. Passion can propel you to start but to sustain one’s purpose, one needs other enablers.

I could recall having to borrow #2000 to attend events and not being able to contribute to house up-keep.

I could remember, wearing just one blazers and trousers to nearly every events and someone even referred who Is the suff(suffering) guy and some even said who is this hustler. Many times I have cried in between. I don’t know how I survived but there are some things that worked for me and I shared in this book.

I also shared a bit about the story of my friend Kehinde Odanye who had an accident on his way from a programme where he was invited to speak for free and he only had a 50-50 chance to walk. He also mentioned how had nothing left in his bank account. Kehinde and I met in London to discuss this experience more in-depth and it is so nice to see how much he is still committed to development work and also creating a balance between passion and profit.

Interestingly, I wrote 40% of the book on air. I was traveling from Nigeria to Kenya and I had a stop-over in Addis Ababa and it was a long flight. Almost 24 hours. So when I got into the ✈️ plane, I picked up my phone and I started writing. I never knew when I wrote 4 chapters. Every opportunity I had, I was writing. Luckily, I met Maureen Koster, an Olympic long distance runner.

She ran for the Netherlands. You meet top athletes once in lifetime. She was heading to Eldoret, Kenya to train and I was traveling to Kisumu. I enjoyed that moment and we had some interesting conversation. The conversations made it to the first lesson shared in the book. It was not a mistake connecting with her but faith brought us together.

I am more excited about the book and looking forward to how it will help so many young people. I am here as your accountability partner.

You can get a copy on Amazon and you can also read it on your kindle if you have one!
